Love That Wine - Wine Tasting Evening

The lovethatwine team held its first ever tutored wine tasting for subscribers on 28 May. We were very happy meet everybody who came along to taste our selection of seven wines from around the world.

Wine firm sponsors TV hit show ‘Come Dine with Me’

Constellation Europe, the owner of wine brands such as Kumala, Echo Falls and Hardys, is to sponsor Channel 4’s hit reality TV show ‘Come Dine With Me.’

The sponsorship deal will cover all Channel 4 and More4 transmissions, as well as Video on Demand (VOD), and online coverage. It will run for seven months (until Dec 09), starting 1 June 2009 with Echo Falls as the first brand to be featured. Read more

Independent Wine Merchant Goes Green

Zelas in Highgate, North London has launched ‘Fill Your Bottle’, allowing consumers to fill up their own wine bottles in-store.The concept, following a successful trial, aims to help wine drinkers reduce their carbon footprint.

“Shipping individual bottles of wine is inefficient. Glass is heavy and so are the liquids the glass carries, resulting in more fuel consumption,” a Zelas spokeswoman said.Read more

Lovely Bubbly will be showcasing four of its boutique champagnes at 11.30 each day at the Foodies Festival, Hampton Court over the bank holiday weekend.

With Champagnes from the villages of Romery (Normal Cru), Villedommange (Premier Cru), Ay (Grand Cru), and Bouzy (Grand Cru), Company Director Mike Amann will talk through each wine and its various grape varieties.Read more

English wine is celebrating its first gold in an international wine competition just in time for English Wine Week which starts on (May 23-31).

In all, over 100 awards were gained by English and Welsh wines in the International Wine Challenge, Decanter World Wine Awards and the International Wine & Spirit Competition, giving a record number of medals and commendations for the UK.Read more
